Yes; although priority is given to Durham Public Schools, non-DPS groups can schedule a field trip at the farm for $10/participant. To inquire about scheduling availability for non-DPS organizations, please reach out to us at dpshubfarm@gmail.com.
-
No, the Farm is only open for pre-scheduled group visits, volunteer groups, or educational tours. The Hub Farm is only open to the public during community events, such as our Spring Festival, Fall Festival, or DPS Family Days.
-
As a fully outdoor facility, we recommend participants wear close-toed shoes, weather-appropriate clothing, and bring a water bottle. You can view our social story with your class to help set expectations for your visit.

The Hub Farm is a learning center that is entirely outdoors without temperature-controlled areas. We have an ADA-accessible covered pavilion that has a girls and boys bathroom (with 2 and 1 stall, respectively), potable water, picnic tables, electricity, and WiFi. We also have an ADA-accessible vegetable garden, greenhouse, and concrete sidewalk. Some of our farm spaces are not easily accessible and may require a 5-10 minute walk on uneven grassy terrain, dirt-packed trails, or onto a floating classroom on our pond. There may be a variety of sensory inputs on the farm including, but not limited to: mechanical and animal sounds, varying temperatures, smells, other visitors/students, and areas in direct sunlight. We have a small number of noise-canceling earmuff sets available upon request and universal communication board signage at our 7 main outdoor classroom spaces.
-
Programs continue rain or shine, except in cases of severe weather. Hub Farm staff will be responsible for making a weather call and will communicate any decisions the day before your scheduled trip. The site is entirely outdoors and includes a small pond onsite. As stated by the DPS weather policy, cold weather below 45 degrees for more than an hour during your trip is grounds for cancellation. Programs will also be cancelled due in the case of a heat advisory.
